You Don't Need More Talent — You Need More of This

You Don't Need More Talent — You Need More of This

Let me ask you something nobody usually asks.

When was the last time you looked at someone else's life — their business, their confidence, their ease — and quietly thought: "I just don't have what they have."

Maybe you've said it out loud. Maybe you've only said it to yourself, in the dark, after a long day when everything felt harder than it should. Either way, I hear you. And I want to tell you something that took me a long time to believe:

You are not lacking talent. You are lacking permission.

Permission to be imperfect while you figure it out. Permission to try things you might fail at. Permission to want more without feeling guilty about it. Permission to believe that what's inside you is actually worth something — even when no one has validated it yet.

The Talent Myth

We've been taught that talent is something you either have or you don't. That some people are just born with it — the gift, the eye, the voice, the magic. And if you weren't born with it, well... maybe this isn't for you.

I don’t think it’s that simple.

What looks like talent from the outside is almost always just someone who kept going when it got uncomfortable. Someone who showed up on the days they felt talentless. Someone who created badly for a long time before they created beautifully. The difference between them and everyone who stopped? They didn't stop.

What You Actually Need

You don't need more talent. Here's what you actually need:

Courage over confidence. Confidence comes after you do the thing, not before. So stop waiting to feel ready. Do it afraid. Do it imperfectly. Do it anyway.

Consistency over intensity. One big burst of effort means nothing if you disappear afterward. Small, steady, daily — that's what builds something real. A small step you can return to may help more than waiting for the perfect stretch of time.

Curiosity over comparison. When you catch yourself comparing your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20, get curious instead. What did they do? What can I learn? What's my next step? Comparison shrinks you. Curiosity expands you.

Self-compassion over self-criticism. You will not bully yourself into becoming the woman you want to be. You will love yourself there. Gently. Persistently. Even on the days you fall short.

A Note for the Woman Reading This at Her Lowest

If you're here because today was one of those days — the kind where everything felt pointless and you wondered if you're even cut out for any of this — I want you to know something.

The fact that you're still asking the question means you haven't given up. The fact that you care this much means there's something in you worth fighting for. And the fact that you're still here, still reading, still trying — that's not nothing. That's everything.

You don't need more talent, love. You need to trust yourself a little longer. 💛
